About real estate school classes and getting your license:
1. When do I get my Virginia real estate license? After you pass the pre-licensing course and exam, you can schedule your official state exam with PSI ($60). You may review the PSI site at www.psiexams.com but remember you need to complete and pass this Virginia real estate license course before you can schedule your Virginia state exam.
2. Which is better, the online course or the live courses? It depends on your personal preference. If you are comfortable with a computer and can access the Internet, the computer based course is state approved, just like the live course.  The online course offers a free online demo  that can give you an idea if it's for you. Remember you can download the course and take it without being online. You just need the Internet to click a button that notifies the school that you completed the course. The school then notifies the Virginia Real Estate Board that you passed.
3. What do I do after I get my Virginia real estate license? After you get your real estate license, you work with a real estate broker, usually a company. There is no obligation to join any particular company. You should interview with different brokers to determine where to work. Although you are affiliated with a broker, many agents work mostly out of their home. Your broker may or may not provide the same level of services and support.  For instance, in Northern Virginia, National Realty based in Reston, Virginia provides new agents you with all the contracts, training, sales materials and other products and services to get you going. You may visit their website at www.nationalrealty.biz to set up an interview.
